In the field of electronic products, polarizers made of polyvinyl alcohol film (PVA), release film, triacetate cellulose film (TAC), pressure-sensitive adhesive, etc. play a decisive role in the characteristics of LCD liquid crystal display panels. Polyvinyl alcohol film is the core film material that plays a polarizing role in polarizers, enabling LCD panels to display clear and bright images. Benefiting from the growth in market demand, my country’s polyvinyl alcohol film production continues to increase. In 2021, China’s polyvinyl alcohol film output reached 8.764 million square meters, a year-on-year increase of 13.5%.

According to statistics from the China Chemical Fiber Industry Association, my country’s polyvinyl alcohol production reached 750,000 tons in 2021, a year-on-year decrease of 7.4%. At present, my country’s polyvinyl alcohol market supply and demand are balanced, which has a positive impact on promoting the scale and development speed of polyvinyl alcohol film production.

From the perspective of enterprise competition pattern, my country’s polyvinyl alcohol production enterprises as a whole can be divided into three echelons. The first echelon includes leading enterprises such as Wanwei High-tech, whose annual polyvinyl alcohol production capacity exceeds 200,000 tons; the second echelon includes Shuangxin Environmental Protection, Geodetic Circulation, Sichuan and Wei Chemical, etc.; the third echelon includes Shanghai Petrochemical and other enterprises, with low annual production capacity At 50,000 tons. From the perspective of production capacity distribution, my country’s polyvinyl alcohol production capacity is mainly distributed in Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Sichuan and other places, and the production capacity in the above regions accounts for more than 60% of the country’s total production capacity. Although there are a large number of polyvinyl alcohol production companies in my country, there are only a few companies with large-scale production capabilities of polyvinyl alcohol films, and there is only one company, Wanwei High-tech.

Industry analysts said that polyvinyl alcohol films have a wide range of applications. In recent years, the market demand for polyvinyl alcohol films in my country has continued to grow. Driven by the upgrading of demand, the industry has huge development potential. my country is a major producer of polyvinyl alcohol in the world. However, due to factors such as R&D capabilities and technical level, the structure of the polyvinyl alcohol film industry needs to be further optimized and adjusted, and there is still considerable room for development in the industry.
