Background and overview[1]
1,3,5,7-tetraphenyladamantane is an organic intermediate, which can be used to prepare a new aromatic sulfonate flame retardant-adamantyl-1,3,5,7-tetraphenyl Sodium phenyl sulfonate. Adamantyl-1,3,5,7-tetra-p-phenylsulfonate sodium has a highly symmetrical structural feature. One adamantyl-1,3,5,7-tetra-p-phenylsulfonate sodium molecule contains 4 pairs of The expected flame retardant effect of the sodium benzene sulfonate group should far exceed that of general aromatic sulfonate flame retardants. The test results show that this new compound is an excellent polycarbonate flame retardant, especially for and When used in combination with silicone flame retardants, ideal flame retardant effects can be achieved even at extremely low amounts.
Preparation[1]
Preparation of 1,3,5,7-tetraphenyladamantane: Dissolve 5.0g (23.2mmol) 1-bromoadamantane into a three-necked bottle containing 30.92ml (348mmol) benzene solution. The bottle is equipped with a magnetic stirrer, condenser tube, and thermometer, and then add 5.0ml (44.5mmol) tert-butyl bromide and 0.5g (3.75mmol) aluminum trichloride. Heat the mixture to reflux for 1 hour, cool to room temperature, pour into the ice-water mixture, add diethyl ether and stir, collect the precipitate, dry it naturally and wash and purify it with chloroform in a Soxhlet extractor for 24 hours. The obtained precipitates are 1, 3, 5, 7-Tetraphenyladamantane was dried under vacuum at 50°C for 5 hours to obtain 4.5 g of product with a yield of 44.1%.
Apply[1]
1,3,5,7-tetraphenyladamantane can be used to prepare sodium adamantine-1,3,5,7-tetraphenylsulfonate: At room temperature, take 2.0g (4.5mmol) 1 , 3,5,7-tetraphenyladamantane is put into a three-necked flask. The three-necked flask is equipped with magnetic stirring, reflux condenser and constant pressure dropping funnel. Take 3ml (45.4mmol) chlorosulfonic acid and mix it with an appropriate amount of solvent and place it in a constant pressure dropping funnel. After sealing, slowly add it dropwise for about 30 minutes. The reaction ends after about 75 minutes. Then carefully add 15ml of water. A large amount of white precipitate will appear. After 2 days of reaction, add 30% sodium hydroxide solution and stir until the solution pH=7~9. After filtration, dry it under vacuum at 50°C for 5 hours to obtain the product adamantine-1,3,5,7-tetraphenyl. Sodium sulfonate (1.5g), yield 39.9%.
