Solubility/Dilution
Desmodur® N100 can be used with esters, ketones, and aromatic hydrocarbon solvents Such as: propyl methoxyacetate, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone, cyclohexanone, toluene, xylene, 100# solvent naphtha and their mixtures for dilution. Generally speaking, it has good compatibility with the above solvents. However, the resulting solution must be tested for storage stability. Polyurethane grade solvents should be used (less than 0.05% water content and no reactive groups such as hydroxyl or amino groups). Aliphatic hydrocarbons are not suitable as solvents. Desmodur® N100 cannot be diluted below 40% solids. Solutions with low base content may develop turbidity and sedimentation after long-term storage.
Compatibility
Desmodur® N100 can generally be used with the following products. Namely: Desmodur® N3200, N3300, N3400, N3600 and Desmodur® Z4470 aliphatic polyisocyanates; Desmodur® L, HL and IL aromatic polyisocyanates; Desmophen® 651 and 670 polyester polyols Desmophen® A polyacrylic acid Ester; Desmophen® 1380BT polyether polyol. However, the compatibility of the prepared solution must be tested. Properties/Applications Desmodur® N100 is mainly used as a curing agent for light-fast two-component polyurethane coatings with high chemical and weather resistance, excellent gloss retention and mechanical properties. Preferred co-reactants are polyacrylates and polyester polyols. Coating systems formulated with Desmodur® N100 are suitable for self-drying or baking and are used in automotive paints and industrial coatings such as wood, furniture, plastics and Anti-corrosion protection. StoreDesmodur® N100 Sensitive to moisture, therefore should be stored in airtight containers. When stored at 5-25°C in the original container, this product has a shelf life of at least 6 months.
