Features /Application
Desmodur® N3200 is mainly used as a curing agent for the preparation of light-resistant two-component polyurethane coatings. This type of coating has excellent chemical resistance and weather resistance, excellent gloss retention and For mechanical properties, the main co-reactants used are polyacrylate resin or polyester polyol. Coatings based on Desmodur® N3200 are mainly used as self-drying and baking varnishes for automotive and industrial coatings such as wood, furniture and plastics and corrosion protection. Due to its low viscosity, Desmodur® N3200 is also particularly suitable for high solids and coating systems such as floor coatings.
Capacity
Generally, Desmodur® N3200 can be mixed with the following products: aliphatic polyisocyanates, such as Desmodur® N100, N75, ultraN3300, N3400, N3600 and Z4470; aromatic polyisocyanates, such as Desmodur ® L/ultraL, HL and IL/ultraIL; polyester polyols, such as Desmophen® 651, 670; polyacrylic resins, such as Desmophen® A series products; polyether polyols, such as Desmophen® 1380BT. However, mixtures should always be tested for compatibility before use.
Dissolve Properties/dilution
Desmodur® N3200 can be diluted with esters, ketones and aromatic hydrocarbons, such as ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, propylene glycol methyl ether acetate; acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isopropyl acetate Butyl ketone, cyclohexanone; toluene, xylene, No. 100 solvent naphtha or their mixture.
Generally, Desmodur® N3200 has good compatibility with the above solvents, but the stability of the prepared solution still needs to be tested. Only urethane grade solvents can be used (the moisture content is less than 0.05%, and the solvent cannot contain reactive groups that react with this product, such as hydroxyl or amino groups). Aliphatic hydrocarbons are not suitable as solvents.
Desmodur® N3200 should not be diluted below 40% solids content. Long-term storage of low solid content solutions may cause turbidity and precipitation.
Save
- Store in original Covestro sealed containers.
- Recommended storage temperature: 5-25℃.
- Protect from moisture, heat and foreign matter.
General Information: This product is sensitive to moisture. Storage in a high temperature environment will cause the product to become darker in color and increase in viscosity. Storage at low temperatures can cause solidification. This type of coagulation is reversible by brief heating and does not affect product quality.
Save Time
Covestro declares that, provided that the product is stored in full compliance with the requirements in the "Storage" clause above and handled appropriately, the product will be shipped from the date stated on the shipping document. Comply with the specifications or characteristic values stated in the "Specifications or Characteristic Values" clause above within 6 months (as applicable). If a product exceeds the above 6-month period, it does not mean that it no longer meets the specifications or the values set in the characteristic values. However, Covestro recommends that products older than 6 months from the date of shipment be tested before use to confirm whether they still meet the specifications or the values set in the characteristic values. Covestro makes no commitments for products that are more than 6 months old from the date of shipment, and assumes no responsibility or liability for products that do not meet the specifications or the set values in the characteristic values.
Security
Product data sheets are only valid when used in conjunction with their corresponding latest safety data sheets. Any updates to safety-related information - as required by regulations - will only be reflected in the safety data sheet, copies of which will be revised and distributed accordingly. For relevant information, including the latest classifications and labels, applications, handling methods and further safety-related data please refer to the currently valid Safety Data Sheet.
Supplement Information
This product is mainly used as a hardener or adhesive for coating materials. Handling of polyisocyanates and residual monomeric HDI containing reactive coating materials or adhesives requires appropriate protective measures mentioned in the safety data sheet. Therefore, these products may only be used in industrial or industrial applications. They are not suitable for use in home (DIY) applications.
