On December 1, Zhejiang Changhong Biomaterials Co., Ltd.’s PBAT biodegradable black masterbatch technological transformation project was approved by the Shaoxing Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau for construction.
In order to improve the competitiveness of existing project products, Changhong Biotech plans to invest 178 million yuan to build a 60,000-ton/year PBAT biodegradable black masterbatch production device and supporting facilities. The production unit adopts a double-burner design (single line capacity is 30,000 tons/year), and collection, wet granulation, drying, and product processing are single lines (designed for PBAT biodegradable black masterbatch production of 60,000 tons/year). In addition, Changhong Biotechnology will build its own carbon black production line. After the completion of the project, the annual production capacity of PBAT biodegradable black masterbatch will be increased to 60,000 tons/year.
Zhejiang Changhong Biomaterials Co., Ltd. was established on October 29, 2020. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary invested by Ningbo Changhong Polymer Technology Co., Ltd. In order to meet the market demand for PBAT and further increase the company’s market share in the PBAT industry, Zhejiang Changhong Biomaterials Co., Ltd. plans to implement a PBAT construction project with an annual output of 600,000 tons (Phase I) at No. 618 Mingxinling Road, Chengbei Industrial Zone, Shengzhou City 300,000 tons), the project obtained the environmental impact assessment approval from the Shaoxing Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau on June 18, 2021 (Shaoxing Environmental Assessment [2021] No. 37), and applied for a pollution discharge permit on October 25, 2021. The permit Certificate number: 91330683MA2JQLT1X1001P.
The environmental assessment approved 5 PBAT production lines (single line annual production capacity of 60,000 tons) and supporting auxiliary facilities and environmental protection facilities. At present, the company has built 2 PBAT production lines (single line capacity of 60,000 tons, total production capacity of 120,000 tons) supporting auxiliary facilities and environmental protection facilities , the project (first phase) will complete independent acceptance in November 2022.
The main products of existing projects include PBAT and by-product tetrahydrofuran. Tetrahydrofuran is mainly sold to Ningbo Zhongxin Chemical Co., Ltd., Ningbo Liancarb Chemical Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Hengtai Chemical Co., Ltd., Shenyang Sanwei Chemical Co., Ltd., etc.
