Properties and stability

Synthesis method
1. Use phthalic anhydride and cyclohexanol as raw materials, the feeding ratio is phthalic anhydride: cyclohexanol = 1:2.4, and use sulfuric acid (0.2% of the total feeding amount) as the catalyst to carry out esterification reaction. The reaction pressure is 0.08MPa, the reaction temperature is 120°C, and the reaction time is 2 to 3 hours. The crude ester liquid is first neutralized with alkali, then washed with water, and then the cyclohexanol is removed by direct steam distillation. The product is obtained after drying, crushing and sieving.
2.Add cyclohexanol into the reaction kettle, add sulfuric acid as a catalyst while stirring, then add phthalic anhydride to dissolve, continue to heat up, and reduce pressure continuously. Remove the by-products to obtain the product
3.The esterification reaction is carried out in a laboratory equipped with a thermometer, reflux condenser, stirrer, and air guide tube In the reaction kettle, add cyclohexanol, solvent A (the dosage is 10% to 20% of the mass of phthalic anhydride), and phthalic anhydride quantitatively, heat to reflux, and add the catalyst (1.5% to 2.0% of the mass of phthalic anhydride) within the specified time. Maintain the reflux temperature and continue the reaction for 13 to 15 hours until the water content reaches the expected value. Take a sample to measure the acid value and calculate the conversion rate. The alkyd-acid feeding ratio is (2.5~2.7):1 (molar ratio).
4.Neutralization, water washing, and distillation. Cool the esterification liquid to the specified temperature, add soda ash solution, neutralize, and wash with water. Thereafter, the mixture is heated and distilled to recover solvent A and excess cyclohexanol.
5.Decolorize and refine the crude ester after distillation, add additive B (the amount added is 5% of the ester amount ~15%), control the temperature between 70 and 120°C, carry out decolorization, purification, and remove a small amount of impurities to obtain the refined ester. Finally, the obtained refined ester is cooled, solidified, and crushed to obtain the finished product.
Purpose
1. This product is a phthalate plasticizer. This type of plasticizer has many varieties and large output, accounting for about 80% of the total plasticizer output. It has relatively comprehensive properties and is generally used as the main plasticizer. Among phthalates, dioctyl phthalate (DOP) is the most widely used, accounting for approximately 45% of the total plasticizers in my country. Dicyclohexyl phthalate can be used as the main plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride, acrylic resin, polystyrene, nitrocellulose and other resins. It has a moisture-proof effect. When used together with other plasticizers, it can make the product shrink and dense, preventing Water vapor transmission and plasticizer evaporation. Plastic products containing this product have smooth surfaces and good hand feel. The dosage of this product generally accounts for 10-20% of the total plasticizer dosage. The dosage should not be too large, otherwise the hardness of the product will increase. This product can improve the fluidity of resin during thermal processing. In synthetic resin adhesives, this product can improve the adhesion, oil resistance and durability. In addition, this product is also used in nitrocellulose and some natural resins to make moisture-proof coatings. This product has low toxicity. After rats were directly orally exposed to olive oil containing 25% of this product, there were no deaths within 24 hours. The LD50 within 7 days was 30ml/kg. This product was mixed into the feed at a dose of 10 mg/kg and fed to rats for four generations for 8 months. No abnormalities were found in the growth, reproduction, and lactation of the experimental animals, and it was not carcinogenic.
