my country’s herbicide production is gradually declining and market concentration is expected to increase
Herbicides, also known as herbicides, mainly refer to pesticides that control and eliminate the growth of weeds. With the continuous advancement of production technology, the types of herbicides are becoming increasingly abundant. According to different chemical compositions, herbicides can be roughly divided into substituted ureas, dinitroanilines, aryloxyphenoxypropionates, diphenyl ethers, and organophosphorus Classes, sulfonylureas, cyclic imines, heterocycles, cyclovinyl coppers, benzoic acids, bipyridines, amides, nitriles, etc.
At present, the terminal varieties of herbicides can be roughly divided into pendimethalin, glyphosate, glufosinate, paraquat, acetochlor, dicamba, metolachlor, mesotrione, etc. Among them, glyphosate has become the most widely used pesticide product, accounting for 18.2% of the overall market; followed by glufosinate-ammonium, with a market share of 3.4%; followed by mesotrione, with a market share of 1.6 %.
In recent years, the purchase price of agricultural products in my country has gradually increased, farmers’ enthusiasm for planting has gradually increased, and the sown area of crops has gradually increased. According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, in 2022, my country’s annual crop sowing area will be 7,161.97 thousand hectares, an increase of 166.06 thousand hectares over the previous year, and a year-on-year increase of 2.4%. As one of the important agricultural ancillary industries, pesticides can regulate crop yields and improve the quality of agricultural products. With the rapid development of my country’s agriculture, the market demand for pesticides has gradually increased, driving its market size to continue to increase. In 2022, my country’s pesticide market size will be 28.24 billion yuan. As one of the largest pesticide subcategories, herbicides have experienced market fluctuations.
According to the “China Herbicide Market Feasibility Research Report 2023-2028” released by the Industrial Research Center, at this stage, my country’s agriculture Rapidly developing, herbicides, as the most commonly used pesticides, can reduce costs to the greatest extent, improve weeding efficiency, and increase crop yields, and their market demand has grown steadily. However, long-term use of herbicides will cause certain damage to the soil and ecological environment. As my country’s environmental protection requirements become increasingly strict, backward herbicide manufacturers are gradually being eliminated, resulting in a gradual decline in their output. According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, my country’s herbicide technical output will be 1.114 million tons in 2022, a year-on-year decrease of 1.15%.
Industry analysts said that at present, my country’s largest herbicide companies mainly include Zhongnong Kemei, Zhongbao Lvnong, Shengdan Biotech, Fuhua Tongda, Jiangshan Pesticide, Tianfeng Biotech, Shengli Chemical, Corteva Agriculture, Wugu Network, Runfeng Chemical, ADAMA, Yangnong Chemical, etc. In addition, there are still a large number of small and medium-sized enterprises in my country’s herbicide market. These enterprises are small in scale, have a relatively single product range, and have low market competitiveness. With the gradual rise of large-scale herbicide companies in my country, the living space of small and medium-sized enterprises is gradually shrinking. They may be annexed or disappear in the future, and market concentration is expected to increase.
