Affected by the epidemic, my country’s aviation kerosene import and export scale has declined
Aviation kerosene, also known as odorless kerosene and jet fuel, is a light petroleum product composed of different fractions of alkanes, aromatic hydrocarbons and olefin hydrocarbons. Aviation kerosene has the advantages of good combustion performance, good low-temperature fluidity, high calorific value, and is not prone to coking. It is mainly used as fuel for aviation turbine engines. Aviation kerosene can generally be divided into No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 aviation kerosene, among which No. 3 aviation kerosene is the mainstream product in the market.
There is a correlation between the market demand for aviation kerosene and the prosperity of the civil aviation industry. According to the “Statistical Bulletin on Civil Aviation Industry Development in 2021” released by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, my country’s civil aviation industry achieved a cumulative operating income of 752.92 billion yuan in 2021, an increase of 21.5% over the previous year. The development of the civil aviation industry continues to accelerate, driving my country’s aviation kerosene consumption to continue to increase. According to the “2022-2027 China Aviation Kerosene Industry Market In-depth Research and Development Trend Forecast Research Report released by the Industrial Research Center, In 2021, my country’s aviation kerosene consumption reached 28.175 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 7.7%. As the severe situation of the COVID-19 epidemic gradually comes under control, it is expected that my country’s aviation kerosene consumption will further increase in the future.
In terms of the import and export market, my country’s aviation kerosene import and export scale has been greatly affected by the epidemic. Logistics costs have increased and the number of aircraft has been significantly reduced, resulting in the global aviation kerosene market demand gradually shrinking. According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China, my country’s aviation kerosene export volume reached 8.558 million tons in 2021, a year-on-year decrease of 14.2%; import volume reached 1.374 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 46.2%. South Korea, Singapore and the Netherlands are my country’s main exporters of aviation kerosene, and the above three countries account for nearly 30% of my country’s total exports.
In recent years, due to positive factors such as the deepening of environmental protection concepts, bio-jet fuel, as an emerging product of aviation kerosene, has seen increasingly strong market demand. Bio-jet fuel refers to aviation kerosene prepared from a variety of animal and vegetable oils and fats using hydrogenation technology. In June 2022, Sinopec Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Company successfully produced bio-jet fuel using bio-jet fuel industrial equipment, playing a positive role in promoting the large-scale production of bio-jet fuel in my country. Under the “double carbon” goal, my country’s aviation kerosene will gradually develop in a green direction.
my country is a major producer of aviation kerosene. The main production enterprises include Jiangsu Baoli International Investment Co., Ltd., Zhuhai Hengjidaxin International Chemical Storage Co., Ltd., PetroChina Co., Ltd., Xi’an Coal Aviation (Group) Industrial Development Co., Ltd., etc. Industry analysts said that driven by downstream demand, my country’s aviation kerosene market demand is increasingly strong. As an emerging product of aviation kerosene, bio-jet fuel has gained broad market prospects with the support of national environmental protection policies. In recent years, my country’s aviation kerosene exports have declined, but as the severe epidemic situation is brought under control, the aviation kerosene market demand will gradually pick up.
