Properties and stability
Use and store according to specifications. It will not decompose and avoid contact with oxides. It flashes in the sun and slowly decomposes in a humid environment. The density is 7.14g/cm3. Insoluble in water, alcohol and dilute acid. Soluble in NH3 and NaCN solutions.
Storage method

Synthesis method
Cool the aqueous solution of K[Au(CN)2] and add hydrochloric acid. Heating to 50°C, most of the AuCN precipitates out. The mixture was concentrated to dryness on a steam bath to drive out HCN. The residue was filtered after adding water, and washed thoroughly in the dark to remove KCl. The precipitate was dried in a concentrated H2SO4 desiccator.
