At present, my country’s oxalic acid preparation technology is increasingly mature, which can be divided into oxo synthesis method, ethylene glycol oxidation method, carbohydrate oxidation method, sodium formate method, carbon monoxide coupling method, etc. Among them, Chinese companies mostly use the sodium formate method and carbohydrate oxidation method for production. The oxalic acid output produced by these two processes accounts for more than 80% of my country’s total output.

At this stage, my country’s oxalic acid industry chain has basically matured. The upstream of the industrial chain is mainly the raw material industry, providing starch, coal, sulfuric acid, caustic soda, glucose and other raw materials; the midstream is mainly the oxalic acid production industry, responsible for the production and manufacturing of oxalic acid and its derivatives; the downstream is mainly the application field, in the rare earth, fine It has been widely used in chemical industry, new energy, medicine, metal processing, textile printing and dyeing and other fields.

From the perspective of application fields, rare earths have become the largest application field of oxalic acid, accounting for 30.1%; followed by new energy, accounting for 29.8%; the pharmaceutical field ranks third, accounting for 20.2%.

In the field of rare earths, oxalic acid can be used as a rare earth extractant for the separation and extraction of rare earths. In the pharmaceutical field, oxalic acid, as a pharmaceutical material, is mostly used in the production of vitamin E, vitamin C and other drugs. In addition, oxalic acid can also be used directly as an electronic board cleaning agent and lithium battery cathode material. Overall, my country’s oxalic acid market has a large demand.

According to the “China Oxalic Acid Industry Development Trend and Development Prospects Forecast Report 2023-2027” released by the Industrial Research Center, in the downstream market Driven by rapid development, my country’s oxalic acid production enterprises continue to expand their production scale, and the overall production capacity has been greatly improved. In 2022, my country’s oxalic acid production capacity will exceed 900,000 tons. At present, my country has become one of the world’s largest producers of oxalic acid, and its export scale has gradually increased. According to data released by the General Administration of Customs, in 2022, my country’s oxalic acid export volume will be 166,100 tons, a year-on-year increase of 53.44%; the export value will be 1.026 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 83.40%.

Industry analysts said that at present, my country’s largest oxalic acid companies mainly include Hualu Hengsheng, Hongli Chemical, and Longxiang Industrial, Fengyuan Co., Ltd., Tongliao Gold and Coal, Danhua Chemical, etc. Among them, four companies, Tongliao Jinmei, Hualu Hengsheng, Fengyuan Co., Ltd. and Longxiang Industrial, have become leading companies in the industry. As my country’s environmental protection requirements become increasingly stringent, some oxalic acid companies are gradually being eliminated, and market concentration is expected to further increase in the future.
