With the gradual advancement of production technology, the types of octanol are increasing day by day, which can be roughly divided into synthetic octanol, natural octanol, etc. Among them, synthetic octanol has become a mainstream product in the industry. At present, the preparation technology for synthetic octanol has matured and can be divided into acetaldehyde condensation method, oxo synthesis method, Ziegler method, etc. Among them, the oxo synthesis method has become the mainstream preparation process for the synthesis of octanol due to its advantages of low production cost and high production efficiency.

From the downstream of the industrial chain, octanol is mainly used to produce dioctyl azelate, dioctyl phthalate (DOP), dioctyl sebacate, isooctyl acrylate, and dioctyl terephthalate. (DOTP) and other products. Among them, dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP) and dioctyl phthalate (DOP) have become the largest application fields of octanol, with application proportions reaching 40.2% and 40.1% respectively; followed by isooctyl acrylate. Applications accounted for 7.9%.

As an organic compound, octanol has a wide range of applications. In addition to being used in the production of dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP), dioctyl phthalate (DOP) and other products, it can also directly act as a surfactant. , diluents, lubricants, extractants, dispersants, plasticizers, antifreeze, etc., are widely used in food processing, cosmetics, plastics, coatings, chemicals, refined oil and other fields, and the market demand is relatively stable. Driven by downstream market demand, my country’s octanol production enterprises have gradually expanded their production scale and their output has continued to grow. In 2022, my country’s octanol production will reach 2.468 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.1%.

According to the “2023 n-Octanol Market Research and Investment Vision Planning Research Report” released by the Industrial Research Center, at present, my country’s Xin Alcohol production has gradually increased, imports have declined, and exports have continued to increase. According to data released by the General Administration of Customs, in 2022, my country’s octanol import volume was 7823,228 kg, a year-on-year decrease of 12.0%; the export volume was 650,488 kg, a year-on-year increase of 6.6%. From the perspective of import source countries, the main importing countries of octanol in my country include South Korea, India, Malaysia, etc. Among them, India has become the largest import source of octanol.

Industry analysts said that my country’s larger octanol companies mainly include Yongli Chemical, Hualu Hengsheng, Qilu Petrochemical, and Daqing Petrochemical, Jianlan Chemical, Lihuayi Group, Lanfan Chemical, Shuguang Chemical, etc. Among them, Yongli Chemical has the largest market share, accounting for 11.4%; followed by Qilu Petrochemical, with a market share of 10.0%; Jianlan Chemical ranks third, with a market share of 8.5%. As my country’s industrialization gradually deepens, the production capacity structure continues to upgrade, the merger of octanol companies accelerates, and some companies gradually withdraw from the market, the octanol market concentration is expected to increase in the future.
